Cookies

What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored by the browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox etc...) on your computer or mobile phone.

They enable websites, such as ours, to store user preferences and remember who you are making the interaction between the website and yourself both smoother and faster.

All our cookies are anonymous, and they do not store information in clear text.

A visit to a page on playwritegroup.com may generate the following types of cookies, which are described in more detail below.

  • Strictly necessary cookies
  • Anonymous analytic cookies

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies anonymously identify who you are to our servers and are deleted at the end of your visit. They allow us to remember who you are as you browse around the site and are essential for accessing account information, viewing product prices and ordering online.

  • ASP.NET_SessionId - This is set for all visitors and is essential for use of the website. It controls an anonymous "state" between your computer and the website.
  • SESSION_IDENTITY - This is set when you sign-in and is used to identify you between page loads. This is required to access your account, view prices and order online. It contains no personally identifiable information.
  • .ASPXANONYMOUS - This may be used to store anonymous customer preferences between visits and is stored up to 70 days.

Anonymous Analytics Cookies

Every time a user visits our website, web analytics software provided by a third party (Google) generates an anonymous analytics cookie. These cookies can tell us whether or not you have visited the site before and allows us to track how many individual unique users we have, and how often they visit the site.

A list of the cookies in this category is shown below:

  • _utma - This cookie is what is called a "persistent" cookie, as in, it never expires. It keeps track of the number of times a visitor has been to the specified site, when their first visit was, and when their last visit occurred.

  • _utmb & _utmc - These cookies are used to determine the length a visit. _utmb takes a timestamp of the exact moment in time when a visitor enters a site, while _utmc takes a timestamp of the exact moment in time when a visitor leaves a site. _utmb expires at the end of the session. _utmc waits 30 minutes, and then it expires.

  • _utmz - keeps track of where the visitor came from, what search engine was used, what link was clicked on, what keyword was used, and where they were in the world the website was accessed. It expires in ~6 months. This cookie is how Google Analytics knows to whom and to what source / medium / keyword to assign the credit for a Goal Conversion or an Ecommerce Transaction.

  • _utmv - is used within user-defined reporting within Google Analytics, related to custom segmentation, the _utmv cookie gets set on the person's computer, so that Google Analytics knows how to classify that visitor. The _utmv cookie is also a persistent, lifetime cookie. We currently do not use this functionality and therefore this cookie will not be set.
